Here's an Idea: Handmade Notebooks and Matching Pencils

4/22/2014 06:11:00 pm

This year, amongst other things I gave my family handmade notebooks with matching pencils for Easter (we ususally only give little gifts). You can find many tutorials for this yet I will still insist to add my own to the list, ha! You'll need: writing paper (squared, blank, whatever you prefer), thick paper, thick thread, needle and scissors or guillotine.

1. First off, cut the writing paper to your desired format and fold in half. I decided to use A5 paper. Then lay it onto the thick paper, draw lines approximately 1 cm away from the edge and also cut the thick paper (fater the cat has moved his bottom). If you wish, doodle on the paper with a black pencil - you can also stamp etc.

2. Fold the thick paper in the middle, too, and insert the writing paper. Evenly placed, poke holes with a thick needle through which the thread will go in the next step that holds the notebook together.

3. Now the 'binding' starts - use a saddle stitch back and forth ( used a doubled thread) and tie a knot at the ends. So, there we have our notebooks!

Geht relativ schnell und macht doch was her!

4. For the matching pencils I simply painted wooden pencils with black varnish. This step is also fairly quick yet makes such a difference, I think!

Echt!
