Upcycling: Turn a Dress into a Loop Scarf!

11/18/2014 06:00:00 pm

I don't like throwing beautiful things away - just like this dress which unfortunately became too short and shapeless with time. So, I quickly turned it into a loop scarf! You will need: broken/unloved dress or skirt, fleece (throw), thread matching the fabric, buttons are optional.

1. First off, seperate the top from the bottom part to receive one large piece of fabric. Cut open at the short end. Lay the fabric right side down onto the fleece, pin in place and stitch the long sides.

2. Now turn inside out so that the 'pretty' sides are outside. Fold the loop to that the fabric (not the fleece) is on the inside and pin the two fabrics together. Continue on the fleece as long as you can (the idea is from the great ebook by Julia!).

3. Sew. Hand-stitch the hole that is still open. Finally, I sewed on some buttons. Tada, ready! Will you also transform an item from you like that?

  8. This bird print is so fun that there's no way you could have let the fabric go to waste! I have an old dress this might be doable with, but I think the fabric's a bit stiffer. And of course, I don't have a sewing machine :(
