Checked Skirt and Staple Shirt

Wenn ihr das lest, liege ich wahrscheinlich gerade am Ostsee-Strand, war schon baden und lasse es mir gut gehen - ich bin nämlich übers Wochenende bei meiner Mutter zu Besuch und habe die Fotos schon im Voraus geschossen.

When you read this I will probably be laying at the Baltic Sea beach, have already had a swim and simply enjoy myself - I'm visiting my mum over the weekend and have taken those photos in advance.

Den Rock habe ich für ganze 50 Cent Second Hand erstanden, und ich liebe ihn! Einfach ein super Teil, und eine schöne Länge, sodass ich ihn gut im Büro ohne Strumpfhose tragen kann. Dazu meine derzeit geliebten Stehkragenshirts und sportlichere Schuhe - ein absoluter Wohlfühllook für mich.

I purchased the skirt for a mere 50 cents from a second hand store the other day and just love it! Simply a fantastic item, and a good length which means I can comfortably wear it in the office without tights. Paired with it one of my currently beloved stand-up collar shirts and sporty shoes - my go to look at the moment.

Our New Smoothie Maker and Recipes

Freundlicherweise haben wir von Klarstein einen Smoothie-Maker zur Verfügung gestellt bekommen (dieses Modell hier). Bereits fleißig getestet, wollte ich euch heute zwei meiner Lieblingsrezepte vorstellen! Der Smoothie-Maker wird mit drei Bechern, zwei Klingen und zwei Deckeln geliefert, was völlig ausreichend ist.

Klarstein kindly gave us a smoothie maker (this model here) to try out. We have already tested it a lot and today I want to show you two of my favourite recipes! The smoothie maker comes with three containers, two different blades and two lids, which really is plenty of equipment.

Um einen Kaffee-Smoothie zu machen, mixt eine Banane, eine Tasse kalten Kaffee, Joghurt nach Präferenz (wie dick der Smoothie werden soll), Kakaopulver (optional) und Agavendicksaft zusammen. Superlecker für alle Kaffeefans!

If you want to make a coffee smoothie, mix a banana, a cup of cold coffee, yogurt depending on preference (on how thick the smoothie should be), cocoa powder (optional) and agave syrup. Very delicious and perfect for all coffee lovers!

Nicht nur Smoothies, auch Pesti lassen sich damit herstellen; die Klingen sind scharf genug für Nüsse. Für ein rotes Pesto getrocknete Tomaten, Nüsse/Samen nach Wahl (bei mir Walnüsse und Sonnenblumenkerne), Meersalz und Knoblauch vermengen; gutes Olivenöl nach Bedarf hinzugeben. Nicht schön, aber lecker!

You cannot only make smoothies but also pesto with the smoothie maker: the blades are sharp and powerful enough for nuts. For red pesto, mix dried tomatoes, nuts/seeds (I used walnuts and sunflower seeds), sea salt and garlic; add good olive oil if needed. Not pretty but very delicious!

adidas Top and Office Skirt

Wie ihr wisst, bin ich ja eine leidenschaftliche Reiterin und sitze mehrmals wöchentlich auf dem Pferd. Als Ausgleichssport habe ich eine Zeit lang Pilates gemacht, jetzt turne ich zuhause auch gern nach Yoga-Videos aus dem Internet. Zalando hat derzeit ein Yoga-Special mit vielen Infos und demnächst sogar Yoga-Videos! Ich kann nur jedem ans Herz legen, es einmal zu probieren, es wirkt wirklich Wunder!

As you might know I'm quite a passionate rider and sit on a horse several times a week; to improve my riding, I did Pilates for a while and now enjoying doing yoga at home, following videos from the Internet. Zalando currently has a Yoga special with plenty of info and soon even yoga videos! I can only recommend to everyone to try it at some point, it does miracles!

Das adidas-Top (zu kaufen hier) ist Teil der Yoga-Klamotten-Reihe und wahnsinnig bequem. Ich fand es interessant, es für den Alltag mit einem recht 'schicken' Bürorock zu kombinieren - was denkt ihr? Kombiniert ihr auch so gern verschiedene Stile?

The adidas top (buy here) is part of their yoga clothes selection and super comfy. I found it interesting to combine that sporty top with a 'chic' office skirt - what do you think? Do you also like combining different styles?

Easy Spice Shelf DIY

In unserer Küche haben wir vor einiger Zeit ein langes Regal über der Arbeitsplatte angebracht, um unsere schönen Vorratsgläser nicht immer nur zu verstecken. Aidan hatte den Wunsch, unsere Gewürze besser zu organisieren - gesagt, getan! Gekauft haben wir dazu ein Glattkantbrett 8x250cm und Lasurpinsel von Hellweg, bereits zuhause hatten wir Schrauben, Maßband, Säge, ein Stück 2x4cm Vierkantholz und Weißlack.

A little while ago, we had attached a long shelf in our kitchen above the worktop to display our nice jars and to also always have them handy. Aidan wanted to organize our collection of spices in a more manageable way - no sooner said than done! We purchased a shelf 8x250cm and brushes from Hellweg; we already had screws, measuring tape, saw, a piece of 2x4cm wood and white lacquer at home.

1. Zuallererst haben wir das 2x4cm Holz in drei 10cm lange Stücke gesägt. Dann die Mitte des bereits vorhandenen Regals markiert und dort ein Loch gebohrt. Jeweils 10cm vom Rand entfernt haben wir je auch noch ein Loch gebohrt und als nächstes die drei Löcher von oben mit einem Ansenker geweiter, damit später die Schraube komplett im Holz versinkt.

1. First off, we cut the 2x4cm wood into three 10cm long pieces. We marked the center of the upper shelf and drilled a hole in the middle. We did this 10cm from both ends of the shelf as well. Next, we used a countersink to widen the top of the hole to hide the screw heads.

2. Im nächsten Schritt haben wir die drei kleinen Stützen auf das 8x250 cm-Brett geschraubt und die Konstruktion an das Regal gehalten um zu checken, ob alles so passt, wie wir das wollten. Dann ging es daran, die Stützen mit dem oberen Regal zu verschrauben.

2. As a next step, we screwed the supports onto the board and checked - by holding against the upper shelf - whether everything fitted the way we wanted it to. Then we screwed the supports onto the upper shelf.

3. Das neue Regal haben wir mit mehreren Schichten Weißlack bemalt und zwischendurch immer ordentlich trocknen lassen. Natürlich haben wir vorher die Wand mit Zeitung geschützt, damit nichts danebengeht! Das regal aufzufüllen, war natürlich der tollste Schritt - wir sind so glücklich, wie es geworden ist! Jetzt kommen wir immer gut an unsere Gewürze ran.

3. We painted the new shelf with several coats of white lacquer and let dry thoroughly in between the layers. We made sure to cover the wall with paper so to not accidentally get paint onto it. We then stocked the shelf with our spices - we are very happy about the outcome! It makes accessing our spices a lot easier.

Ich hoffe, ihr alle habt ein tolles Wochenende soweit? Ich habe meinen Samstag bisher mit Blogpost-Vorbereitungen und Kuchenbacken verbracht (der geilste Schokokuchen ever, zweistöckig, mit Cremefüllung). Heute Abend geht es noch zu einem Geburtstag, morgen dann wieder Reiten und Flohmarkt. Same procedure as every Sunday!

I hope you all have a great weekend so far? I have spent my Saturday so far with blog post preparations and cake baking (the best chocolate cake ever, two layers, chocolate cream filled). Tonight I'll visit a friend's birthday party, tomorrow I'll go riding and to the flea market. Same old, same old.
